Kevin Ertell

Principal Consultant
Kevin Ertell spent 30+ years in senior executive roles at Nike, Sur La Table, Borders, and Tower Records before founding Mistere Advisory. He built strategies, led large teams, and learned what it actually takes to turn a plan into results.
At Mistere Advisory, he works with leaders and leadership teams across tech, healthcare, consumer goods, retail, manufacturing, and professional services, helping them build strategies their organizations can actually execute and developing the discipline to follow through.
His book, The Strategy Trap: Why Companies Fail at Execution and How to Get It Right, became an Amazon #1 bestseller and is a practical guide for leaders who want their strategies to survive contact with reality.
Kevin chaired the National Retail Federation's Shop.org and has advised many solution providers on how to position themselves for the buyers they're trying to reach.
When he's not working, you'll find him on stage playing bass — because tight rhythms and tight execution have more in common than you'd think.

Shanna Ertell keeps the financial side of Mistere Advisory running smoothly, so clients can focus on the work. She started her career as a CPA at KPMG and later served as controller at Liveclicker. She's the person you'll probably hear from when it's time to sort out invoices or payments, and she's always happy to help.
